A very disturbing morning. Empty A very disturbing morning.

While hunting in the Mirkwood with Zidi, a young woman I met recently, I had an unfortunate encounter that has left me quite shaken.

As the Mirkwood is a rather dangerous place, I try to keep my eyes open when I hunt there. I saw that another human was in the area, named Sarallei. I sent a pigeon to ask her if she had seen any Shadowspawn or other unhappiness in the area, and she said "Just me." I thought it was a joke, albeit in poor taste, and responded by saying "Oh, surely you can't be that bad...." and offering her some equipment I had run across on a bargain. She did not respond, and I did not sense her nearby after that.

However, at the next stand of trees I came to, I noticed that someone was hidden nearby. At this time I was more concerned about Shadowspawn, but I immediately attempted to escort Zidi to safety. We crossed the river, and went toward Tear. Zidi was confused -- I think the poor girl worried about my mental stability. I'm sure I seemed paranoid. When we got to a place where there were some big strong burly guards to protect us, I explained what I felt. I also mentioned the possibility that I sensed another human, not Shadowspawn.

As we started to go into the City of Tear, Sarallei attacked me. She used the One Power on me -- I felt the earth shake many times, and took damage from that. I asked her to please let Zidi go, as she was just a child -- not even 20 yet! She did agree to let her leave the area, and I thanked her for that. As I started to run away myself, she chased me, continuing to use the One Power to attack me. When I was haggard and certain I was about to die, very battered and bruised, she then said "Oh, you are a Wall Guard?" I said "I hope to be." She then said "I didn't see that at first, I will let you go."

As I was trying to leave the area, I heard a man, Teor, yell that he was being attacked by Sarallei. I did not see them fighting. I did see a lot of stuff on the ground as I ran past a room she was in, and I saw a body, but I did not linger long enough to tell whose body it was.

I nearly wore out my horse to get back to the safety of Far Madding. While I was in the Inn, enjoying a nightcap to settle my jangled nerves, I saw that she was in Far Madding. She came to the Inn, and stood right in front of me! I felt so thankful for the Guardian -- and I asked her why she was aggressive toward me. She said it was because I was in Tear and she disliked Tear. I started to try to explain why I felt what she did was senseless -- that I expected trouble from Shadowspawn, but not another woman, another human.

At that time, a member of Thiefbane came into the Inn and attacked her. He was followed by Teor, who attacked her as well. I imagine that Teor had attempted to have a warrant sworn on her, and that was why he was with the bounty hunter. As she was leaving, she said that she wanted no trouble with the Wall Guards, and that I was a witness to them attacking her.

I'll be honest here -- while yes, I witnessed them attack her, I cannot say it was unprovoked. While the Guardian protected me from her shaking the earth, calling lightning from the sky, or other acts of mayhem, we cannot stay in the influence of the Guardian forever. She says she wants no trouble with the Wall Guard, but she attacked me without even looking closely enough before being aggressive and misuing the Creator's gift of the One Power. I would hate to see Far Madding become a shelter for people who would harm another human being without provocation, especially ones who abuse the One Power.

I have been asked to relay this testimony to the authorities in Tear, as well as the White Tower. However, before I do that, I wanted to explain myself to the clan I wish to join. Yes, she let me go because I wish to join the Wall Guards, but if her only reasoning behind not wanting trouble with us is so she has a refuge to run to after attacking innocent people... I feel she is a danger to our city and to our citizens when they go outside the protection of the Guardian.

If you have any questions of me, please let me know and I will answer them fully.

Thank you,

Sarallei should be at the very least banished until this is decided upon for attacking a Wall Guard Applicant even though it wasn't in Far Madding...and Teor deserves a warrant for chasing and attacking Sarallei in Far Madding.

A very disturbing morning. Empty Teor and the member of Thiefbane

Post  Merrianne Sun Nov 15, 2009 11:32 am

Teor did say to me that he realized his actions in fighting Sarallei in Far Madding were wrong, and that he deserved banishment at least. The member of Thiefbane I believe was named Aerren. I'm not certain if Thiefbane has permission to chase wanteds in FM or not -- I would kind of be surprised if they did, but I could also understand why they might. And why they might not.

I do agree that if the law will be enforced on one person who broke it that it must be enforced on all. Otherwise there is no law.

Teor = 1 week banishment... Sarallei = warrant. An attack on a wall guard anywhere is a warrant

Merrianne saw sarallei on without a warrant did anyone give the warrant? I seem to have missed this thread for some reason.
